Am I repeating myself?

realdress1

Am I repeating myself? Well yes I am. Well yes I am.

Enough of that silliness. I have serious matters to discuss (and p.s. none of them are sponsored).

See that magic maxi, situated swing-side? Well I first spied it on a mannequin late last year. I was descending the escalator at my local shopping centre and I pretty much had my cash in hand before I alighted. Yes, I was delighted. The fabric, the shape, the length … I was sold.

But there’s more to this story to be told. I seem to be repeating myself. Diagnosis? Double Up. You see, a few weeks ago I duplicated the entire scenario. It played out pretty much the same way as round one, sans a few little details. Same escalator but different display. Same frock but different fabric — and minus much moolah. Yep 50% off.

I know what you’re thinking. Third time’s a charm. As luck would have it, I’m heading back that way this weekend. Yep, this weekend.

Sorry, am I repeating myself?

As I said before, this is NOT a sponsored post but if you fancy these frocks as much as I do, check out The Cherry Shop but, take my advice, be prepared to visit twice!

Tell me, do you repeat yourself too? Do you repeat yourself too … I really must stop that. I really must stop that.

    Hi Tonia

These maxi dresses have a great 70s vibe – you look great in both but the first one is my favourite!

Oh Merilyn that Walt Whitman quote is GOLD. I’ve not heard that before, thanks for sharing it and thanks for your kind words too … am I repeating myself? Hope you have something lovely planned for this weekend.xx

I love these dresses! I am not tall however and would drown in all that fabric.
I always say some of my best purchases were made in the accidental manner you describe. I have an amazing denim jacket I fluked in at Myer and it has embroidery all over it. Whenever I wear it, it attracts so much attention and a few have even tried to buy it off my back! (No joke!) Enjoy the new dress.

Oh Jody that jacket sounds like all kinds of awesome … I’d love to see some pics! Bring on the cooler weather, I say. P.S. The Cherry Shop also has some shorter styles – well worth a look. Meanwhile, have a good weekend.

You totally rock as a frock gal! love the way you put together your wardrobe. But alas, the cherry shop is just too far for this gal to rock a frock. You look great.

Oh thanks Diana, you’re too, too kind. Online shopping, luv, distance no barrier. That said, we do need a reunion one of these days. Hope to get down your way in the coming months. Meanwhile, take care and thanks for popping by the blog. x

I always buy more than one of an item if it looks and feels good on. In a different colour or pattern, of course, but I do it all the time. If you’re on a good thing, stick to it! And those dresses are lovely – great buys Tonia!

Thanks Kirsty. Let me tell you, I’m going to embrace your way of thinking. I’m new to this ‘duplicate purchasing’ (technical term I just invented) and, I have to admit, I’m loving it! Have a good weekend (hopefully full of shopping x 2).

I never repeat myself. I never repeat myself.

Two of the bottom halves I wear to work most days are the same – just different prints.

Oh I hear you, sista! The work wardrobe is always a multi-tasking affair at my place too. Thanks for stopping by. x

I think I’m way too fat for maxis and don’t wear dresses at all, but I do have swing envy. I live in an apartment (which is quite small) but if I live in a house I think I’d have a swing in my backyard which would come complete the drink and book holder (and manage 100+kg bodies!) 🙂

Deborah, I read your post this morning and, for the record, I think YOU ROCK. Nothing to weigh up at all. You are a wise and wonderful woman. As for that swing with booze and book holder … I think we need to get an inventor/builder on to it IMMEDIATELY. Have a good weekend (p.s. small apartments rock too – I lived in one in Melbourne that I loved to the moon and back) x

  • No wonder you doubled up, those dresses look fabulous on you and you look fabulous in those dresses! If I find a style that I love, I often buy the same style in a different colour or pattern because you can never have too much of a good thing. Looking forward to seeing the last part of the trilogy!

Oh Sammie, I’m not to be encouraged. (*but we both know a trilogy is on the cards, right?). I think you, Kirsty (from My Home Truths) and I need to develop some kind of Shopping Group For Double Up-er-ers. Have a super weekend Sammie. x

Too, too true Kathy. Yes, thank you, having a lovely relaxing weekend at this end. Hope you are too. I saw all the wild seas on the GC – hope you’re high and dry! x

  • You certainly rock a maxi Tonia – I especially love the first one. And as for that swing – best setting for a photo ever! Looking in my wardrobe I can see I repeat myself a lot. Grey. Black. Navy. Denim. Grey. Black. Navy. Denim. I’m getting boring 🙂

Thanks Tash! I can relate to those dark colours. They’re on high rotation for me too. Actually picked up a denim skirt today – perfect length and cut for summer or winter (and a bargain). x
