Monday mourning (08.06.15)

Technically speaking, Monday mourning is all about donning black and mourning the loss of the weekend but today I’m making an exception. See that burst of colour? That’s to match my sunny disposition. It’s a long weekend and I’m bloomin’ wrapped.

I’m also wrapped in this black blouse that’s been buried in the back of my wardrobe for far too long. Part Flamenco dancer, part batwing bonanza, it’s not quite workwear but what do I care? I’ve got an entire day to spare.

I haven’t set an alarm for three days in a row and whilst tomorrow will be a blow, I’ve certainly made the most of this extended weekend.

Enjoyed a homemade dinner with friends on Friday evening, followed by a good old fashioned movie night on Saturday. Do you remember Kramer vs Kramer? If not, pop it on your “must see” list. Methinks its five Oscars were well deserved.

My moviefest carried over to Sunday when we watched the classic Broadcast News. Very unusual for me to catch two films in the space of two days – and vintage favourites to boot. Now I really must scoot. I’m off to make the most of this Monday mourning…I mean Monday morning.

Are you enjoying a long weekend too?

Woooo! I love that pop of colour and LOVE that part flamenco dancer part batwing blouse. You must have felt like you were killing it today in that outfit 😉 Hope you had a great day and have an easy intro into the working week tomorrow. Groan. x

Thanks so much Renee. Now if only I could dance – this outfit would be perfect! Wasn’t today sublime? Hope you had a relaxing day off too. Think I might be wearing black again tomorrow. Hang in there. On the upside, it’s a short week so should fly by x

  • I can’t believe I had to move around the world to have a day off for the Queen’s birthday! I was never afforded the luxury when I lived on British terra firma, but I’m always very grateful for the extra 24 hours of weekend. I love that shirt – it’s spectacular! Kramer vs Kramer – that is certainly an oldie but a goodie! Hope you had a lovely long weekend and that the week ahead although short is very sweet!

Thanks Sammie, glad you get to enjoy the three days of celebration now you’re in Oz. Wish we could have a four day week every week! Thanks for stopping by.

  • Hope you had a great long weekend. Oh there is no better feeling than not setting the alarm!!!!

I’m with you there Lucy. Sleep-ins are one of life’s greatest luxuries. Have a good (short) week.

  • We peaked a week early over here in Perth so Monday was a work day (but a quiet one – no calls from the east coast!). Your weekend sounded great – I love Broadcast News. It’s been so long since I’ve seen it. Kramer vs Kramer is also gold. Did you know Dustin Hoffman actually co-wrote it but didn’t take any credit at the time? He didn’t want to be seen as successful as there was more honour in being seen as a struggling actor in those days. Crazy?!

That’s so interesting Tash, I had no idea he co-wrote that movie. Golly what a talent! I loved the performances AND the script. Ditto for Broadcast News. I sure do love long weekends and movie marathons. May there be more of both for both of us! x
