Monday mourning (13.07.15)

In case you’re keeping score, it’s 40 love. Despite only netting a few hours sleep, this 40-year-old is loving her early morning training.

The hawke-eyes among you will have clocked the Monday mourning code violation. Naturally, I had to make an exception and add some Wimbledon white.

It was line ball as to whether this jumper was going to see out another winter. I picked it up last year at one of those closing-down-out-they-go-everything-must-clear sales. Why do I always succumb to a bargain basement? It’s little wonder my poor bursting wardrobe is jammed with wildcards.

The bottom half of my drawer is more clear cut; a pair of well cut old faithful black pants and my favourite white trainers. Comfort is key this morning, Monday mourners.

I spent the entire weekend watching wall-to-wall Wimbledon. Suffice to say, I’m going to be a weary worker today, given I turned in not long before dawn.

Mid-yawn I must thank Novak, Roger, Andy, Serena and Garbine for such an entertaining few days. You’ve all inspired me to dust off my racket and come out swinging this week.

Something tells me I’m yet to reach my peak. Here’s to yet another big week.

Were you courtside this weekend too? It’s time to return serve with your weekend winners.

Linking up today with The Multitasking Mummy.

Oh Merilyn, I love bugs too. Actually, I’m mad for just about any fresh seafood. What a delicious winter treat. Hope there was hot chocolate for dessert! As for “wildcard”, be my guest of course (I’m with you on the one word, by the way). Rug up and stay warm now. xx

  • I’m more than a bit bleary eyed myself, although nothing to do with the tennis. I had one of those rare social media free weekends and we ended up doing a midnight to dawn movie marathon with the family at home.

Raychael, that movie marathon sounds wonderful. I’ve been daydreaming about going camping so I can unplug and get back to nature. Mind you, a movie night sounds pretty good too. Hope there was popcorn. There must always be popcorn (preferably caramel popcorn, to be specific).

  • I LOVE that jumper. If you ever get sick of it, send it my way 😉

I had to force myself to turn off the TV last night as I knew if I watched another minute of the final I would have stayed for the whole thing and I just couldn’t cope with that after our gastro-filled weekend. Sleep was a bigger priority to help my poor body recover.

Oh you poor thing, I hope you’re feeling better today. Sounds like you need another weekend to make up for being sick on Saturday and Sunday. By the way, will be seeing you at Problogger? Hope so.

I had a weekend away on a vineyard with no mobile, internet or television reception, it was brilliant, although I was disappointed to miss watching Serena – what a superstar!!
    P.s. love the v stripe jumper 🙂

Your mini break sounds marvellous, Rachel. I’ve been hankering for a few days away and that vineyard sounds mighty fine. As for Serena – she was amazing. Have you seen the clips of her and Novak dancing at the function afterwards? She looked so glamorous and so full of joy. A great weekend all round.

Thanks Veronica. I’m still feeling a bit jet-lagged actually (but it was well worth it). Looking forward to some earlier nights this weekend! Thanks for stopping by.

  • Love all the tennis puns (and is that a wooden tennis racket I spy?! – super impressed!). Sorry I’m late to the Monday Mourning party but think I’ll be playing catch up on sleep for a while – now Wimbledon is over (there was some great tennis) it’s now onto game 2 of The Ashes. Thank goodness I’m not a cycling fan otherwise I wouldn’t sleep/blog/work/parent at all!

Hey Tash, well done backing up Wimbledon with the cricket! I’m still in recovery mode. Haven’t gone to bed before midnight all week – eek! Have a good weekend. x
