Monday mourning (20.07.15)

6julmm
I call this look “deflated girl muses over why her weekend left her”.

To farewell my old chums Sat and Sun, I picked my blackest of black collared work shirts. Somehow it seemed a tad too dark so I’ve added a statement necklace. Call me the Jewellery Whisperer but I’m fairly certain the statement it’s issuing is “hang in there sister, the weekend’s only five days away”. Pretty deep stuff for a bit of bling that cost me a few gold coins at a flea market last year.

Let me tell you, there was no trash ‘n’ treasure this weekend. It was all 100% treasure. What a pleasure to have the time to indulge in a bit of baking. Whipped up my famous sponge cake (number 9,999) as well as a key lime pie (my first attempt). Both went down a treat and then I hit the high street.

I found a dreamy silk and sequins scarf for a shine-themed conference function I’ll be attending next month. With a busy few weeks looming, it’s rather lovely to have one tick on my TO DO list.

What did you do this weekend? I’m all ears.

Linking up today with The Multitasking Mummy.

That pumpkin soup sounds perfect for 2 degrees. Hope you’re staying warm and managed to find some sunshine today. Have a good week x

  • My weekend was mainly offline. Catching up with my little family for the last weekend of school holidays here in Perth where hubby also had some rare time off.

Your weekend sounds lovely Raychael – glad you got to spend it with the whole family. Sometimes a good dose of offline is the perfect way to spend a weekend. Hope you have a happy week ahead.

…sounds like we’re all feeling it today Kathy – must be the weather!

  • I love reading about the stuff you pick up for a bargain. I went thrift shopping last week and as much as I tried, I just couldn’t find anything. Is it because I’m too picky or is it just that there really wasn’t anything there? Hmm…I’ll have to try again. As for my weekend, I spent lots of money on new carpet. I cannot wait to walk bare foot on it!

Ah yes, love that new carpet feeling under foot. As for op shopping…my tip is to spread your net as wide as possible. I generally visit 2 or 3 places in one outing and my strike rate seems to improve that way. Keep me posted.

  • The statement necklace really does lift the mood! I took hubster away for a romantic weekend in the Sunshine Coast hinterland, to celebrate his birthday – it was awesome – so there may have been some Monday morning mourning here too x

The hinterland is so pretty up that way – hope it was a restful couple of days. x

Thanks Veronica, I needed a bit of bling power yesterday!

  • Love that necklace and can’t wait to see that shiny scarf on you (as much as I’d love to be at PB I’ll be lurking in social media land this year!). It was a long overdue date night and a Sunday sleep-in for me on the weekend. Plus we won our hockey game which is always a nice bonus. Shopping with the tornadoes for tee-ball gloves and then swimming lessons. Where does the weekend go? I vote for an extra day. Our next public holiday is too far away for my liking xx

Tash, that’s such a shame you won’t be at PB. Will definitely keep an eye out for you on the twitter/insta feeds. Hey congrats on that hockey win (impressive on two counts..(1) that you got up and got active on a weekend and (2) coming out a winner) Well played! xx
