Monday mourning (20.04.15)

MONDY

The weekend has passed and it’s Monday mourning so I’m dressed accordingly.

In a nod to the Man In Black, I’m top to tail in noir as I bid the weekend au revoir.

Threw my hair back in a low pony because, let’s face it, I’m riding low in the saddle today. You see, I want more than just two days of fabulous frolicking but sadly duty calls and it’s back to work I go.

In case you want to know, my little three quarter jacket is making its debut appearance today. Amazingly, I thrifted her for less than a tenner. She came with a fabric belt to cinch the waist and, no, that high collar is not inbuilt. I made her stand to attention.

Down below, I’ve popped on my favourite winter boots. They’re last season Gorman’s and should help put a little spring back in my step.

Did I mention my bling? Hasn’t it got some zing? Can’t go past a black and white cameo. Turns out this retro motif is cloning itself in my wardrobe. I seem to have acquired quite a few bits and bobs featuring this little Miss.

I’ll tell you what else I’ll miss and that’s this weekend full of fine dining, catching up with friends (old and new), celebrating a birthday or two and popping into a market for good measure. They’re all memories to treasure.

I’m feeling mighty aggrieved about taking my leave of these past two days of pleasure.

Are you experiencing Monday mourning? What are you going to miss about your weekend?

Linking up today with The Multitasking Mummy.

  • I love cameos! I have a huge vintage collection actually. I have a huge vintage collection of gorgeous handbags from the ’50’s, and vintage jewellery. Geez, I just collect everything glamorous!

Oh Jody – we sound like peas in a pod! Would love to see that collection of vintage jewellery. Such fun reinventing old pieces and giving them a modern look. Thanks for stopping by the blog. Have a good week and remember to rock that cameo every chance you get!

Thanks Merilyn, I am indeed easing myself into Monday. Having my second cuppa already. I had to laugh re: the melon baller. This morning someone popped over to Facebook with evidence that maybe it’s a meat baller. So confusion reigns at my end! Either way, I’m sure it will come in handy in the kitchen. Have a good week – sounds like it’s off to a smooth start, which is ideal x

  • Looking fabulous, lovely! I know I will be feeling like this next Monday, after I go back to Tafe this week. When I’m on Tafe holidays the weekends don’t feel like weekends at all, with small cherubs to entertain me and the husband usually working nights, but once the Tafe term kicks off again I will most definitely be looking forward to my weekends and mourning them come Monday!

Thanks Kylie. Glad you got to squeeze in one more relaxing Monday before you head back for a new term. The holidays do seem to fly by, don’t they? Really appreciate you popping over.

I experience Monday Mourning every week! I miss the lazy starts to the mornings, impromptu beach visits and having Handy Hubby around to help with the kids. Love those boots of yours and the jacket (bravo on the bargain). I bet they are firm favourites come Winter. Heck – I just like black clothes in general!

Hey thanks Tash! Ditto re: Mondays and black clothes. I love taking a basic black outfit and giving it a bit of zing with some bling or a brooch or a scarf. I may or may not have an extensive scarf collection. How many scarves does one gal need? I still haven’t quite worked that out. Thanks so much for popping over.

Monday is mourning day isn’t it!! I miss lazy mornings eating a cooked breakfast… not having to rush everywhere!

No rush, no fuss – it really is bliss, isn’t it? As for those cooked breakfasts…I could eat eggs benedict every day of the week (accompanied by a plunger of freshly brewed coffee of course)!

  • I just saw your conversation with Jody and that’s something I’d dearly love to start, collecting vintage jewellery! Where do I look for such thing?

Oh Eva, you’ve come to the right place! More than happy to encourage a fellow jewellery lover! Over the years, I’ve uncovered some great treasures in op shops and vintage fairs. Here’s a link to one of the fairs that takes place around the country http://www.frockupaustralia.com/frock_up_australia/THE_AUSTRALIAN_VINTAGE_FAIR_DIARY_2015.html Incidentally, sometimes beautiful bits and bobs turn up in the most unlikely places. From memory, the cameo ring (I’m wearing in the snap above) was a repurposed vintage button. I picked it up in a Sydney craft store, about five years ago. It pays to always keep your peepers peeled. Keep me up to date with your growing collection – would like to see how you go out there xx
