The best $2 I’ve ever spent

final bag

Spoiler alert: I did not win a motza on a $2 Instant Scratch-It. I did, however, bag me a bargain. Allow me to explain …

When I’m standing in a queue, with not much to do, I’m the kind of browser who investigates everything in store. Those choccies on special? Yep, I clocked ’em. That mini picnic basket with the cute little thermos? Been there, seen that. But last week, I stumbled across something so out-of-the-box fantastic that I had to hotfoot it straight to the counter.

This little encounter involved a golden slipper (well two, to be precise). See that little silver pouch above? Well, inside were a pair of rolled gold flats — for the princely sum of $2. That’s a dollar per shoe, who knew?

I cannot tell you how many times I’ve purchased emergency slip-ons; it’s usually anytime between “these-blisters-are-beating-me” and “help-my-ankles-are-growing-cankles”. Heels at a wedding that went too long? Ill-fitting pumps for an uncomfortable meeting? You get the idea.

Now, thanks to these $2 ballet flats hidden in my handbag, Cinderella will go to the ball. And she’ll be able to walk home.

(P.S. This is not a sponsored post, just a little something I picked up at my local Post Office.)

Tell me, what’s the best $2 you’ve ever spent?

Guess what? I bought a silver pair too. Together, both pairs cost less than my takeaway coffee – unbelievable! Hope you’re enjoying your leave. Some time off sounds so appealing!

What a bargain buy. I don’t normally wear flats but I can hardly walk at the moment and having these in my bag on standby sound rather appealing.

Oh you poor thing, Raychael. I prescribe feet up and lots of day time telly and takeaway …. Keep off those feet. x

Oh Kathy, don’t you just love that feeling of sweet relief after a few hours in heels? Can’t wait to take these for a test run!

  • Now that’s what I call a bargain! And from the post office to boot! (Excuse the pun!) I totally need to stash a pair of these in my handbag for uncomfortable shoe emergencies (of which I have many!)

Yes, I have to admit this is the first time I’ve purchased footwear at the post office! What next? Stamps at the shoe shop? (P.S. Hope you’re enjoying your time in the UK) x

Great idea! I hadn’t thought of these for flights but, yes, they’d be perfect. Now I need to plan a little trip. Hope you manage to find a pair of these magic slippers in your neck of the woods (P.S. they come in black and silver too) x

At the post office? I want to visit the post office now! What a great idea to just have them in your bag. That’s what Cinderella was missing.
