I was at a local market when I first spied them. The sweet stallholder had done a bit of research to boot.
She pointed out some small font on the fabric that read Rudolf Dassler. Turns out he was the fellow who kicked off PUMA. Meanwhile, his brother was the heart and sole of adidas.
I just liked the look of them, all history aside. Who knows why I let them slide.
A few weeks later I was back that way and hip hip hooray it was market day. There they were. I couldn’t believe someone hadn’t walked off with them already.
Got them on my hoofs quicker than you can say “a weekend at Wimbledon”? Don’t mind if I do.
That’s where you’ll find me this weekend…couchside and well heeled. Women’s final on Saturday and men’s final on Sunday. Bliss. Pass the Pimm’s.
Will you be watching Wimbledon with me this weekend?
